Independence Middle School student Lily Edwards earned national honors at the first-ever NCFL Middle School Nationals at Seton LaSalle High School, placing sixth in prose reading and first in dramatic performance. Coach Katie Clifford praised Edwards’ impact on Bethel Park’s forensics program and said she is expected to help grow and inspire future participation at the high school level.

The Bethel Park indoor track and field team capped a standout season with record-setting performances at the state and national levels, including a school-record 11 athletes competing at the Adidas National Championships. The Hawks earned multiple top-10 national finishes, set school records, and showcased both strong senior leadership and promising young talent under retiring coach Scott Staranko.

Four Bethel Park High School students earned top honors at the 2026 FCCLA State Leadership Conference, including medals for Caitlin Foote, Ella Dolman, Audrey Francis and Jackie Pivetz. Pivetz also received $2,500 in scholarships for her future in culinary arts, while adviser Heather Veltri was recognized for 10 years of service.

Allegheny Health Network Sports Medicine will provide high school sports physicals on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the AHN Peters Township Health and Wellness Pavilion, Orthopaedic Institute Offices, 144 Gallery Drive, McMurray.

Bethel Park’s baseball program has been one of the WPIAL’s most consistent powers since 2021, compiling a 97-28-1 record with two state championships, multiple deep playoff runs and four section titles. Entering 2026 after significant graduation losses, the Black Hawks will rely on a junior-heavy roster and a strong returning core to continue their tradition of success.

A Bethel Park junior led the way at the WPIAL Class 3A championships, capturing titles in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke with standout times while also helping set a school record and earn All-American recognition. His performance, along with strong relay and individual contributions across the lineup, powered the Black Hawks to a fifth-place team finish and highlighted the program’s promising future.

Bethel Park’s girls swim team overcame a small roster with strong participation, highlighted by a growing diving program and multiple WPIAL qualifiers, including senior Julia Ratti, who posted personal-best times and led the team as a captain. Despite limited numbers, the Black Hawks advanced all three relays to WPIALs and finished 19th overall, with contributions from both veteran leaders and emerging young talent.

Bethel Park will remain in Class 5A Section 3 under new WPIAL conference alignments for 2026 and 2027, adding Thomas Jefferson, Trinity and West Allegheny while continuing rivalries with Upper St. Clair and Peters Township. The Black Hawks open the 2026 season Aug. 28 against Hempfield, with key dates including playoffs beginning Nov. 6 and championships running through Dec. 12.

Bethel Park High School recently inducted its 2026 Distinguished Alumni, honoring five graduates for their professional achievements and contributions to local, national, and international communities. Honorees include a retired Marine Corps colonel, a longtime dance instructor, a government diplomat, a naval officer and business executive, and a nonprofit founder supporting individuals with disabilities and veterans.

Bethel Park High School recently held its 2026 National Honor Society induction ceremony, recognizing new members, honoring distinguished alumni and celebrating more than 100 seniors from the Class of 2026. The event featured student speakers on the organization’s four pillars, performances by the Top 21 vocal group and the induction of students from the Classes of 2027 and 2028.
