Edwards wins national title at inaugural NCFL Middle School Nationals

Independence Middle School student Lily Edwards earned national recognition at the inaugural National Catholic Forensic League Middle School Nationals, held this past weekend at Seton LaSalle Catholic High School.

Edwards competed in two events and advanced to the final rounds in both. She placed sixth in prose reading and captured a national title with a first-place finish in dramatic performance.

“We are fortunate to have had Lily playing a key role in helping to revitalize our high school Forensics Speech and Debate program this year,” said Mrs. Katie Clifford of Bethel Park’s Speech and Debate Forensics Club. “Her contributions have already made an impact, and we look forward to welcoming her fully in the coming school year.”

“We are confident she will help our high school program grow and inspire middle school students to get involved in Forensics Speech and Debate, as well,” Clifford added.

The competition marked the first-ever middle school national tournament hosted by the NCFL.
